New Website! And a Healthy Kale Guacamole Recipe + Health Benefits

Who doesn’t like guacamole? I came up with this recipe a few weeks back. I was looking for a balancing dip with a twist to serve at my PMS talk. I thought back to a dip I had seen at the Oakland Whole Foods and decided to whip up my own. It’s the best anti-inflammatory, detoxifying, hormone balancing dip that also promotes good vibes. It’s nature’s butter, with kale, and the best way to celebrate my beautiful new website…

Health Benefits

  • Good fats (anti-inflammatory) – did you know that not all fats are bad? In fact, there are good fats that our bodies actually NEED in order to function and to keep us feeling full and happy. The fats contained in the avocado will actually help your body absorb and utilize the beta carotene found in the kale and have been researched in their positive effects on arthritis and heart disease. Kale contains powerful anti-inflammatory omega-3 fatty acids.
  • Detox support – the B6 found in avocados is necessary for the liver’s phase 1 detoxification. And I’ve talked about how kale can help to regulate detoxification at the genetic level, due to its isothiocyanates.
  • Hormone balancing – indole 3 carbinole, found in kale, helps to increase estrogen metabolism. B6, found in avocados, is a nutrient that is also needed for this process.
  • Good vibes – the B6 found in avocado can help to increase synthesis of serotonin, our appetite-regulating, feel good neurotransmitter.
Kale Guacamole

Ingredients
  1. 1 avocado
  2. 1 clove garlic
  3. Juice of ½ lemon
  4. 2 green onions, roughly chopped
  5. 2 leaves kale, stemmed and roughly torn
  6. A few sprigs of cilantro
  7. ½ tsp Celtic sea salt
Instructions
  1. Process all ingredients in a food processor until the avocado is smooth and there are small dark flecks of kale.
  2. Serve with chopped veggies, organic tortilla chips or crackers, or use as a spread or topping.
